So I recently got back from activity of marine conservation Indonesia, be a volunteer marine conservation in tiny private island called Misool in the middle of no where far out in Raja Ampat Indonesia. I was amazed at the overwhelming beauty and abundance of life both above and underwater.
Maybe many peoples have recently know that The British Ship damaged coral reef in Raja Ampat as we published here. It turns out there are more things threaten coral reef ecosystems in one of the best dive locations in the world. Is one of the reasons marine conservation expeditions held in there. But one thing shocked me, the plastic. There was plastic everywhere on every dive. I have seen plastic underwater all over the world but the amount was crazy. Who ashole doing that ?
In this shot I came across a beautiful Napoleon Wrasse being cleaned by cleaner fish under an amazing coral out cropping. As I was watching the scene unfold I noticed a few pieces of plastic float out from behind him. All of a sudden I watched as he blew the cleaner fish away and proceeded to eat the plastic right in from of me. Plastic is quickly becoming a massive environmental hazard that is starting to choke the life out of the worlds oceans and it’s many sea birds.
I really sad to see, there are still many tourists who still throw garbage in the sea, it is unfortunate because it is unnecessary if all visitors have the awareness of the importance of protecting the marine ecosystem. There are local volunteer ocean conservation who are on hand to clean up the garbage and keep the natural coral reef in there. How to be an easy volunteer marine conservation ? It’s simple.. just eat your food or drink your beverage and keep the packs until you fond the trash can, it’s already makes you become a super hero.
Please don’t use plastic straws and when given the choice of paper or plastic always choose paper. I got a water filter for my house and when given the option I buy water in glass bottles.
