While doing in kauai scuba diving, got to see dozens of green turtles, Moray eels, and huge schools of fish of various colours. One of the most awesome experiences. Such a beautiful island the mother island of all the Hawaiian Islands it’s peace on paradise.
It was fantastic! If you’re not renting a car, do it. There are hardly any taxis around and it’s difficult to get around the island without it. If you can, go on a helicopter tour like blue Hawaiian and it was breathtaking! Go to Waimea canyon early in the day and preferably on a week day.
It delivered everything you’d expect: tropical breezes, swaying palm trees, crashing surf, and plenty of fruity rum drinks. The biggest highlights included the jaw dropping “doors off” helicopter ride around the entire gorgeous island of Kauai, and scuba diving the teeming outer wall of the Molokini Crater. Other adventures were the catamaran tour of the tall cliff Na Pali shoreline and caves there, scuba diving in kauai, snorkeling Black Rock near Lahaina on Maui, and hiking along the Waimea Canyon. You will actually relaxed some too.
If you like the east side from Lihue up to Kapaa’. You may to stay at the Kauai Marriott there just at the Harbor at Lihue & there is a couple other places just up the Coast from there. The Aston Aloha Beach Resort is not very Fancy but allows you to get one of the little Cottages just up from Lydgate Park & a nice Beach area for Families & there are some nice Condos across the Wailea River at that is run by Outrigger I think. There is also a real nice place just a couple miles from the Airport Aqua Kauai beach resort that I think that Aston also owns now. It was really nice. You will like that it is not as dry on the east side of the Island & a little Greener..
Area used for Manta nite dives is rubble from airport next to cove so not to worry on kneeling on bottom resin for kneeling is to give wildlife room from surface to bottom to move freely without interference from us humans.
It’s not scuba dive Kauai that we dreamed of. At the first dive in the same location before sunset. The coral formations and then big areas of dead coral where people kneel. Was pushed back down when I tried to use buoyancy to stay off coral. Mantas were beautiful but part of the time underwater I couldn’t help thinking about the negative impact of this dive on the coral reef and the animals.
This is not too late, the tourism industry should be the main goal for nature conservation, especially the underwater world. This is not just the responsibility of the local community and the managers of tourism there, but also the responsibility of the tourists, all of us. Enjoyed your vacation and keep the nature.
